Natural disasters

Every year different natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes

and volcanic eruption happen on our planet. They destroy cities and towns they

injure and kill people and animals.

According to scientific research serious earthquakes have taken place in Asia,

South and North America and Europe. The worst earthquakes were in Japan,

China, India, Turkey, Peru, Chile, Mexico, the USA, Armenia, the Russian

Federation, and Portugal.

People suffer from hurricanes in Asia (in Japan, China, the Russian Federation, the

Philippines) and in North America (in the USA).

Tornadoes are common in North America in the USA in spring and autumn. They

often do great damage. There active volcanoes in Europe (in Italy), in Asia (the

Russian Federation) and in South America (in Salvador and Hawaii). They can

erupt at any time. Look here. They are Earthquake, Hurricanes….

Man - made catastrophes

But natural disasters are not only reason of ecological problems on Earth.

It

׳

s a wonderful world we live in. For thousands of years the Earth has given

support to all forms of life – human beings, animals, birds, fishes, insects and

plants.

But now human beings are killing our planet. Many species of animals and birds

have disappeared. Millions of animals die every year because man has polluted

their natural homes. Besides, every year people cut down more trees, build more

roads, and use more land for farming. All over the world the forests are

disappearing. Some of our rivers are empty of fish. The beauty of many places has

disappeared for ever, it

׳

s an international disaster

.

Litter is thrown away

Air is polluted

The forests are cut down

Water is polluted

Forests fires

Pollution is very dangerous for people, wildlife and environment.

пр

But we must

be friend to our planet. But what should do? If we cut down fewer forests, the air

would be clean and fresh. If we didn’t pollute our rivers and lakes, they would be

full of fish. If were clever and careful, we wouldn’t live among litter and waste. If

we planted more new forests, we would save wild animals. If we took care of our

planet, we wouldn’t have so many environmental problems. Now answer my

questions and you make up short stories.

a.

Do you love nature?

b.

There are natural and man – made catastrophes that threaten the modern

world. Name some of them.

c.

What are the results of our influence on the environment?

d.

How can we help to safe nature?

Well done, thank you.

2.Next task: make up short stories. Take these cards answer to these

questions.

1. Why have many species of birds and animals disappeared?

2. What is the air polluted by?

3. Why are forests disappearing all over the world?

4. People are in danger, aren′t they?

5. What are the most serious environmental problems now?

6. How can you help to keep clean our planet?

1. Millions of animals die every year because man has polluted their natural

homes. Air is polluted. Water is polluted. Many trees are cut down for building.

Most of the countryside is spoiled.

2. People pollute themselves with cigarettes, alcohol and junk food.

3. Every year people cut down more trees, build more roads, and use more land for

farming and that′s why all over the world the forests are disappearing.

4. Air is polluted by power stations (large buildings in which electricity is made),

factories and fumes of cars.

5. These are the names of the environmental problems of today: littering, air

pollution, water pollution, forests fires, natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes,

tornadoes and volcanoes).

6. We shouldn′t leave litter in the forest. We mustn′t put litter into water. We

shouldn′t break trees. We must leave wild flowers for others to enjoy. It is

important. It helps to protect wildlife. We can help to clean up our local

environment.

Why have many species of birds and animals disappeared?

What is the air polluted by?

Why are forests disappearing all over the world?

People are in danger, aren′t they?

What are the most serious environmental problems now?

How can you help to keep clean our planet?

People are in danger, because they pollute themselves with

cigarettes, alcohol and junk food.

Millions of animals die every year because man has polluted

their natural homes. Air is polluted. Water is polluted. Many

trees are cut down for building. Most of the countryside is

spoiled.

Every year people cut down more trees, build more roads, and

use more land for farming. All over the world the forests are

disappearing.

Air is polluted by power stations (large buildings in which

electricity is made), factories and fumes of cars.

Shake, shake, shake your hands,

3.

The Earth needs a friend, doesn’t it?

We must take care of nature. You can also help to save the environment by

remebering to do simple things. I am sure we can help to save the Earth. We

must remember the three Rs. I think small changes can make a difference to

the enviroment. We should be in charge of the Earth.
